DURING 2008, La Motte wine estate has been the winner of various prestigious awards, not only for its products, but, of equal significance, for its industry practices.
Of special importance to this estate – being totally committed to conservation and preservation in the wine industry – was the recognition received from the Biodiversity and Wine Initiative.
This respected institution awarded La Motte with Champion Status for its contribution to sustainable wine production and the adoption of the biodiversity guidelines laid down by the South African wine industry.
Subsequent to this achievement, La Motte received the Woolworths Eco-Efficiency Supplier Award, given to Woolworths suppliers that are particularly dedicated to reducing the impact of their industry on the environment.
Hein Koegelenberg, La Motte’s managing director, says, “Our focus on the importance of biodiversity, organic practices and eco-conscious wine-making fits in with the strong commitment our estate has towards preservation in the cultural and historic fields.”
Adding to its list of achievements during 2008, La Motte also received the Organic Trophy plus a Gold Medal at the Michelangelo International Wine Awards 2008 for its organic 2008 Pierneef Sauvignon Blanc.
