THE purchase of the Sentrasure Building by the Drakenstein Municipality should be lauded.
At least there will be a municipal facility within walking distance of Paarl’s inhabitants who have no transport, and for those fortunate enough to own cars - there are more than 90 parking bays.
It would have cost much more to build an extension of the civic centre.
Paarl has been struggling for decent premises for a public library and has been using a “temporary” facility for 50 years, with very inadequate parking.
The new building could be ideal library premises, well within reach of many schools.
I support our Municipal Manager, Dr Sidima Kabanyane, and the councillors who had the revolutionary courage to take this huge step forward for Paarl. Optimist
