THE former station commander for Paarl police station, Director Mzwandile Tiyo, is recuperating at his Paarl North home, after being shot several times during an ambush. Tiyo was recently transferred to the provincial headquarters to head an elite crime prevention unit. He sustained gunshot wounds in his stomach and legs, while following up information about armed robbers. “I would like to thank all those who have stood beside me in this difficult time - from the humble man on the street, to my seniors in the provincial government, whose thoughts have been with me during my recuperation. This has definitely speeded up my road to recovery.”
