NEW waste water treatment works of ten hectares are planned for Paarl South, due to expansion of the town in a southerly direction.

The most favoured sites are located at Vilafonte vineyards, at a site next to the Berg River south of De Zoete Inval, at De Hoop on the Kliprug road near Rennie’s Farm, and next to the Berg River on the farm Groot Parys.

A public open house meeting to discuss the draft environmental impact report on the shortlist of sites which have been identified, will be held on 19 November at the municipal council chamber at the Paarl civic centre.

The draft report on the environmental impact study of the sites is currently available at the Paarl and Wellington public libraries and on www.ninhamshand.co.za

Construction of the works is unlikely to begin before 2025, when a separate environmental impact study will be done.

To comment or to register as an interested party, write to Ninham Shand, PO Box 1347, Cape Town 8000 or email enviro@shands.co. za before 8 December.
