A NUMBER of property developments are currently in the pipeline, which may bring relief to the housing shortage in the Paarl area.

One of them is the proposed development of 335 houses for farm labourers at Nieuwedrift adjoining the Paarl/Malmesbury Road.

The draft basic assessment report on the proposed development on farm 486 is currently available at the Drakenstein Municipal Library. For further information, visit www. envirodinamik.co.za/reports.

* A residential development of 65 housing units is planned on a farm property adjoining Jan van Riebeeck Drive, between Groenheuwel and Newton, by Silvercrow Properties 20.

The developer is planning 45 group housing units and five double storey blocks of flats of four units each on the property (erf 8407). Objections, if any, should reach the municipal manager at PO Box 1, Paarl, 7622, by 8 December. For enquiries, contact PraktiPlan 021-863-2396.

* Another housing development is proposed on the Swaelstert Road between Smartietown and Nederburg, east of Paarl. The Dalsig Village development of 100 medium cost housing units will be located on portions of farm 527. For enquiries, contact Pieter Badenhorst on pbps@iafrica.com or 082-776- 3422.

* In the same area (opposite Smartietown), the Kara family plans to develop land on which there is currently an existing shop, for housing. They plan 73 housing units (including the existing house) on a site of 3,3 hectares. For enquiries, contact Olivia Braaf at tel 021-906-5205 or olivia@vodamail.co.za.

* The final basic assessment report on the proposed development of part of the farm Zandwyk on the old Paarl Road near the Afrikaans Language Monument for single residential development has been completed and can be viewed at the Paarl library.
