THE semi-finals of the Mayoral Soccer Cup took place at Faure Street Stadium on Saturday. In the junior division, the u.13 teams of Eleven Ideas beat Barcelona 2-0, while Mbekweni United beat Paarl Soccer Club 5-0. The u.15’s of Mbekweni Cosmos beat Juventus 3-0 while Mbekweni United also won 3-0, against Boland Warriors. In the semi-final match in the ladies division, Paarl United beat Barcelona 5-0. After the other ladies semi-final between Paarl ladies and Lady Hawk United finished with a 0-0 draw, the two teams again failed to score in extra time. With a penalty shoot-out deciding the result, Paarl Ladies eventually won 4-3. In the senior men’s division African Jaguars beat Victoria United 2-0 in extra time. In the other semi-final Mbekweni Cosmos beat Boland Warriors 3-0. The victorious teams are due to meet in the finals on Saturday 22 November at the Mbekweni Stadium. Eleven Ideas will take on Mbekweni United in the u.13 final, with Mbekweni Cosmos and Mbekweni United squaring off in the u.15 final. In the Ladies third/fourth place play-off, Barcelona will take on Paarl Ladies, followed by the final between Paarl United and Lady Hawk United. In the third/fourth place play-off in the men’s division, Victoria United will come up against Boland Warriors, followed by the main event, to crown the Mayoral Cup champions of 2008, which will be decided between Mbekweni Cosmos and African Jaguars.
