INCREASES in minimum wages for domestic workers come into effect on 1 December. The new minimum wage for a full-time domestic worker is R1340 per month or R6,88 per hour. For part-time workers the minimum rate is R8,12 per hour.

A booklet titled “You, Your Domestic workers and the New Laws” has been published by Cape Labour and Industrial Consultants, informing employers of their rights and obligations.
