Nominations close today

THE nominations for candidates who will stand in the five by-elections for Paarl on 10 December close today at 5 pm. The amount of R500 is payable by each candidate. The IEC will announce the names of the official candidates on Tuesday at 14:00. The by-elections are due to the expulsion of five Drakenstein town councillors who have decided to join the Congress of the People. Registered voters in wards 7, 21, 26, 28 and 30 can vote on 10 December from 07:00 until 21:00. The voting stations are: * Ward 7: Weltevrede Secondary School and VGK Van Wyksvlei; * Ward 21: Hunter Tempel AME Church and Orleansvale Primary School; * Ward 26: Paulus Joubert Primary School and tent at the corner of Conrad Street;
* Ward 28: E. De Waal Church, Ronwé Primary School and Sonop Primary School; * Ward 30: Calvynse Protestantse Kerk Saron and VGK Saron.
