Carols by candlelight

ON Saturday 29 November the Frank Pietersen Music Centre will be presenting their annual Carols by Candlelight in front of the main building in Sanddrift Street, Noorder Paarl, at 18:30. It should be a very beautiful event where the music centre’s orchestras, ensembles and choirs will present a Christmas program of high calibre. The gates will open at 17:00 and entry is free, but donations are welcome. While there is background music, potjiekos or lamb braai with salads and other refreshments will be for sale. There will also be a jumping castle for the children. Candles, a program and a carol booklet for the concert will also be for sale. The formal program will start at 18:30 with a pre-program and the Christmas program, featuring the Junior Youth Orchestra, the Brass Ensemble, our Senior Strings and our Youth Orchestra. The Youth Choir and Children’s Choir, part of the music centre’s newly formed Choir Academy as well as the Adult Choir will form part of the program. There will also be a chance for the audience to sing along with some well-known carols. Anyone interested in ordering potjiekos at R20 or a braai with salads at R30 beforehand is welcome to contact the music centre office at 021-872-2123/4.
