December holiday athletics programme

THE public in the Boland will be entertained with no less than 16 events during the December holiday season. The first event will be a coaching course at Coetzenburg, Stellenbosch, where almost 200 coaches and athletes will be introduced to the finer art of athletics by some of the best coaches in the world. Spectators interested in pole vaulting will be entertained by the Boland Athletics Pole Vault Academy at three different dates and venues, with the first event being held at the Lights Festival in Paarl this weekend. A street mile will take place in Paarl on 16 December, with the second street mile taking place in Kleinmond on 8 January. A number of road races will also take place. On 10 December the Simonsvlei road race will take place at the Simonsvlei Wine Cellar (18:30), the Whalers road race will take place on 20 December at Onrus and the Betty’s Bay road race and fun run will be held at Betty’s Bay on 27 December. The Danger Point road race will be held in Gansbaai on 31 December. The X-terra race (3 January), Big Blue Beach Mile (8 January) and the Big Blue Festival Nite Race (9 January) will all take place in Kleinmond. Contact 072-347-8964.
