Some doctors still care
2008-12-04
IT has become the trend that when one goes to the doctor, you shouldn’t expect too much. Many doctors (the good ones excluded) do not have time to listen and examine one properly. In most cases, it’s a very abrupt check -up and distributing of medicine (those who actually still include meds in their consultation) all in under five minutes. I was told on more than one occasion that there isn’t enough time to go into the details of my condition, as he had other patients waiting. I felt very despondent and vowed never to return. On Saturday, I went to the doctor again and to my delight, the new doctor was very thorough and extremely friendly. I thought I was in the twilight zone, because it’s a rare thing to find a doctor that is so caring and I could hardly believe my ears when I was told that I had to pay R100 only (meds included). I want to applaud him for his genuine compassion and thoroughness. Paarl East resident
