Recognition for Paarl MediClinic
2008-12-11
A THREE year accreditation has been awarded to Paarl Medi-Clinic by the Council of Health Service Accreditation of Southern Africa (COHSASA). The basis on which this high accolade is awarded is the hospital’s commitment to a continuous quality improvement programme, a prime objective of the 35 Medi-Clinic hospitals currently participating in the COHSASA accreditation programme. Medi-Clinic has been involved in accreditation with COHSASA from its inception. COHSASA has pioneered an accreditation for healthcare services in South Africa that ranks among the best in the world. Patients receiving treatment in an accredited facility can rely on the fact that the following features are in place: • Systems based on best practice to ensure that it functions according to quality standards. • Systems to detect poor service and monitor improvements. • A clear mission statement and objectives to guide its practice. • Clearly defined methods of interacting with patients to ensure their well-being. • Systems that integrate all service areas in a hospital to maximise efficiency. • Systems to monitor the level of quality in the delivery of service. • Appropriate staff development and training programmes to ensure ongoing competence. • A safe and clean environment for patients, staff and visitors that meets defined safety and legal requirements. • The best use of its resources to avoid waste and duplication. .
