Murder mayhem

MURDER has been rising rapidly in the valley during the past few weeks. Last Sunday evening, an alleged drug dealer was shot seven times outside his Amstellhof home. An unknown gunman opened fire when Morné Daniels and his wife returned to their home in Kiewiet Street. No arrests have yet been made. Daniels has come to loggerheads with the law on various occasions in connection with the possession of drugs. Anybody who can help the police with their investigation can contact Paarl-East detectives at 021-877-5913. * During the same weekend, shortly after midnight, police came across the body of a prison warder who had been stabbed several times. The Mbekweni patrol vehicle was stopped by passersby who directed them to the body of Lunga Smooi (24) at the taxi rank. Nobody has yet been arrested in connection with the murder. * On Sunday morning 7 December, Raymond Dinga (22) returned to his home in Phola Park which he shared with his mother. As he entered the home, he told her that he had been stabbed. He then collapsed and died shortly afterwards. Mcebisi Piswa (22) was arrested. * A man died in Tygerberg hospital last week, after having also been stabbed with a knife. Aubrey Dumpies (33) was stabbed a week earlier in Van Wyk’s Vlei. No arrests have been made.
