2009-01-08
TRADITIONALLY, during January and February, more than 200 000 athletes in the Boland are preparing for interschool and interclub athletics meetings. The objective is the 2009 Boland Youth and Junior Championships that will take place from 29 to 30 February. Based on the 2008 performance, Boland Athletics have identified more than 100 promising athletes. These athletes are all ranked according to age on the South African Top Ten Ranking List in their respective events. Boland Athletics will be monitoring the progress of these athletes in their preparation for the 2009 Boland Athletics Youth and Junior Championships on 27 and 28 March for which a team of approximately 100 youth and junior athletes will be selected . According to Dr Harold Adams, President of Boland Athletics, the Boland Athletics selectors will be monitoring the performances of all athletes during the 2009 Track and Field Season. During the final selection of the 2009 Boland Youth and Junior team for the SA’s, all athletes that qualify will be selected (the selection criteria are available on www.bolandathletics.co.za).
