On 26 December I had to visit the Emergency Unit at MediClinic Paarl.
I had severe abdominal pain and a high fever and tried to explain what could be wrong with me to the doctor on duty at the time, Dr Jawa.
Before I could finish, he interrupted me, asking me to speak English, as he could not understand Afrikaans.
In short I explained that I had had an operation (TVT) about two years ago and in August had suffered an ovarian cyst.
In an unprofessional way he asked me while chewing bubblegum: “What do you want me to do? Do you want me to remove your cyst? Go and get your file and come back.”
I was so disappointed in MediClinic and the way they treat their patients.
I then decided not to go back, but rather seek professional help.
I want to thank the MediCross staff and doctor on duty who immediately diagnosed my condition and prescribed the appropriate medicine.
Mrs A Bruwer, PaarlThe spokesperson of the hospital replies: Paarl Medi-Clinic views all complaints in a serious light. The complaint was investigated and feedback was given to Ms Bruwer personally.
