Athletics workshop at Coetzenburg

ON Saturday 17 January, Boland Athletics will be conducting a Technical Officials Workshop for anyone who wishes to officiate during the 2009 Boland Athletics Club or Schools Athletics Meetings. The workshop will also cater for competition organisers, coaches and spectators who want to know more about technical officiating in athletics. The Technical Officials Workshop will take place at the Coetzenburg Stadium in Stellenbosch, at 11:30. Registration is from 10:00. The enrolment fee is R50 for registered technical officials and R110 for unregistered technical officials, sport organisers, coaches, etc. Events covered are Boland HS regional champs and Boland senior T+F champs (21 Feb), Boland Jnr and HS T+F champs (27-28 Feb), ASA YP Ultimate Athletics V (27 Feb) and SA YP Senior T+F champs (13/14 March). During the workshop, breakaway sessions will take place under the guidance of some of the top technical officials in SA, such as Clarence Combrinck, Noel Daniels, Allison Kok, Etheresia Thomas and Brandon du Plessis (all IAAF qualified Technical Officials). During these sessions, the public will have the opportunity to ask questions regarding rule interpretations. The latest IAAF Rule Book will also be for sale (R40).
