The Good Food & Wine Show is back and better
2009-01-22
THE Good Food & Wine Show will be presented at the Cape Town Convention Centre this winter for the 12th time. It promises to feature the latest international trends as well as new innovative areas. The show in Cape Town is the most well-attended exhibition of all expos in the Western Cape and a highlight on everyone’s social calendar. Last year’s show, was attended by 47 048 visitors, which confirms its popularity with Western Cape consumers. The interactive contact with visitors, buoyant sales figures, are all immensely positive factors, but the presence of the major manufacturers, distributors and retailers has a significant impact on, among others, many of the smaller speciality exhibitors. The show provides brands in the food, food preparation or drink sector with a proven national marketing platform to interact directly with their target audience, both in the trade and amongst consumers. Many companies from small producers to big brands use the four day interactive exhibition to effectively promote their products, generating incredible on-site sales as well as fabulous trade contacts, gaining improved relationships with industry players and retail listings. This year they introduce a concept that is brand new to the South African trade industry. They invite everyone to enter their new products to our show in Cape Town. Entry offers you the opportunity to have your product judged by a panel of international as well as national buyers later in the year. The categories evaluated by the top panel will be categorised according to packaging, design or item. All you have to do is send your product to the Good Food & Wine Show. You do however, not need to exhibit in order to enter the competition. One month prior to the Good Food & Wine Show in Gauteng, which takes place from 29 October to 1 November, the Show will release the names of the top 30 products as chosen by our panel of expert judges. These products will be showcased in a booklet that will be distributed to buyers. Finalists will have the opportunity to exhibit free of charge with the other finalists at The Good Food & Wine Show in Gauteng. The overall winner will be announced at a gala evening prior to the Good Food & Wine Show Gauteng and awarded a three months listing with a key chain store as well as the opportunity to exhibit free of charge at any one of The Good Food & Wine Show of their choice to the value of R20 000. “This is a break-through for the South African trade industry and The Good Food & Wine Show wants to encourage producers to sell quality and innovative products in South Africa,” says Christine Cashmore, The Good Food & Wine Show® director. They are also introducing a number of sizzling new categories: * From the Garden to the Kitchen - there is such a demand for seasonal produce in the world and South Africa is hot on their heels. * The Beer and Cider Route – a showcase of premium local and imported ciders and beers available in South Africa. * The Great Wine Sale – an extension of the ever-popular Wine Walk, this dedicated area will showcase premium wines, available for tasting and purchase at great Show prices. * City Bites - some of the best restaurants in Cape Town, Durban and Gauteng.
