From 5 to 6 March the Stellenbosch University Language Centre will be presenting a workshop for those who have to liaise with the media on a regular basis and who have to write media releases. This two-day workshop is also aimed at people who have to fulfil public relations duties without having the necessary training. They aim to support participants with the following: • How to plan your communication successfully • How to understand the structures and demands of the media • How to develop the skills to identify newsworthy topics • How to write an effective media release that will capture the attention of the papers, the radio and television Dawid Botha, an independent communications consultant, will be presenting the workshop for the seventh time. He is a former lecturer in Public Relations Management and was also the head of corporate communication at a training institution. Participants are welcome to send examples of their own media releases with the registration form, which will then be discussed as sample material during the workshop.
