Athletics summer series at Dal Josaphat

TWO Boland Athletics Summer Series events will be hosted by Paarl Athletics Club at the Dal Josaphat Stadium in Paarl on 28 January and 4 February respectively. With the events starting at 17:30, athletes will have the opportunity to qualify for the South African Youth and Junior Championships that will take place in Pretoria from 27 to 28 March, as well as the 2009 SA Senior Track and Field Championships that will take place in Stellenbosch (Coetzenburg) from 13 to 14 March. The first of a series of 5 Yellow Pages Ultimate Athletics Track and Field Events, organised by Athletics South Africa, will also start on 23 January in Potchefstroom. Senior and Junior athletes who still want to qualify for these events can take part in the Summer Series in Paarl. The entry fee is R10 for adults, athletes and high school learners, and R5 for primary school learners. The u.14, u.16, u.18, u.20 and senior categories will be catered for. Any socially acceptable clothing can be worn during competition, as long as the athlete wears a licence number. Temporary numbers will be available at the track. Entries for track events close one hour before the start of the event. Entries for field events take place on the track and close 15 minutes before the start of the event. All field events start at 18:30. The top athletes (male and female) over the two days in each age group will receive a prize.
