Wanted: more feet into Paarl

2009-01-22

A FORMER Wellington resident, Lindy Kriek, has joined Paarl Tourism as the new marketing co-ordinator.

“I am looking forward to establish a thriving tourism industry by working together with all Paarl Tourism members to get more feet into Paarl and to make Paarl one of South Africa’s top tourist destinations,” she says.

Lindy recently returned to Paarl after spending two years in Amanzimtoti, south of Durban, where she worked as a journalist and photographer and worked on several marketing projects for Amanzimtoti’s tourism office.

After completing her schooling at Hugo Rust Primary and Huguenot High School she pursued a Bachelors of Drama and Arts degree (with English and Art History) at the University of Stellenbosch, which she completed in 2003.

After her studies she worked as a production and stage manager for “Tart ‘n Koggel” (TNK) Productions, of which she is also a co-founder member.

“Tart ‘n Koggel” won the Aardvark Award for the most innovative production at Aardklop National Arts Festival in 2003 for its production of “Skroothonde”, a performance art production that was performed in a scrapyard.
