Prima Donna in Paarl
2005-07-28
SOPRANO Loren Erasmus will present the “Prima Donna Show” on Saturday at 19:00 at the La Musique Theatre in Breda Street, Paarl.
Loren, born and bred in Paarl, says she has been singing all her life but never got any exposure because she was not interested at the time.
“It all started when I was only four years old and during that time it was ‘The Greatest Hits of Abba’ and I usually sneaked off to the neighbours and entertained them.
“At school I took piano lessons and sang in the choir. I also joined Frank Pietersen Music Centre playing the xylophone, but obviously when you get to the stage of being a teenager you stop with whatever you were good at.
“Because I was passionate about singing and wanted to achieve something with the God-given talent I received, I started taking singing lessons again at La Musique School of Performing Arts in Paarl.
“I do classical, opera, a variety - I love music, I love singing, it’s my life!”
The Prima Donna Show is actually named after a song that a diva sings in “The Phantom of the Opera”.
Entry on Saturday is R40. Contact 083-414-7530.
