IN response to the letter in the Paarl Post of 15 January from Mrs A Bruwer I would like to point out that I had good service from the same doctor at Paarl MediClinic.
I had had the unfortunate need to take my son who was about 18 months old at the time, to the Emergency Unit at the Paarl MediClinic.
He had been crying uncontrollably and at my wits end I felt that he needed medical attention. We were also assisted by Dr Jawa, who in my view was nothing but pleasant and professional.
When he saw how my son was crying he mentioned that when a child cries like that it can only be tonsilitis and on examining my son his suspicions were confirmed.
He showed me how inflamed his tonsils were and immediately administered medication to calm him down and gave us the appropriate medication to continue with at home.
I found Dr Jawa to be nothing but friendly and helpful, even offering to admit my child if I felt that I could not handle the crying.
Doctors are also human, they work long shifts and have to deal with various situations on a continuous basis.
