City Killers get promoted

LOCAL football team, City Killers FC, was recently promoted to the SAB league after winning the play-offs at Esselenpark Stadium in Worcester. Killers represented the Drakenstein Local Football Association in the Metropolitan League Play-Offs on 31 January and 1 February after they won the Drakenstein LFA Metropolitan League last season. Killers were well prepared for the play-offs and walked away with top honours after beating all four opposition teams. On the Saturday, City Killers’ first match was against Eleven Stars of Witzenberg, whom they thrashed 10-0. After that Killers squared off against tournament favourites Spes Bona of Stellenbosch. Killers clearly weren't threatened by the tag of ‘favourites’ seeing that they beat their opponents by five goals to zero. On Sunday City Killers started well by receiving a soft point against Zolani United (Breede River Ashton) after the latter were penalised for arriving late at the field of play. With a 5-0 victory over their hosts, View of Hope (Breede Valley), in their final match, City Killers booked their place in the SAB League for the 2009/10 season.
