Child trips, dagga found

WHEN police stopped to help a child who had fallen in the road, little did they know that they would be seizing a large amount of dagga.

Last week Mbekweni police stopped to assist a child who had fallen in Sand Street.

To assure the child’s safety they stopped a vehicle that tried to overtake the police vehicle.

When the driver was asked to present his driver’s licence, he handed it over, but while the police officer went to check the credentials, the suspect fled the scene on foot, leaving his car behind.

The police became suspicious and alerted the Paarl Dog Unit.

On further investigation, police recovered almost four kilograms of dagga hidden in the vehicle, with a street value of R7500.

The police are now searching for the owner of the CA registered vehicle, Monde Xaxani. Anyone with information can contact the Mbekweni police station on 021-868-9901.
