THE construction of the Mbekweni Multi-Purpose Centre (MPC) by the Drakenstein municipality is nearly complete and rental space is available for government departments and community organisations to drive various community development and support services. Applications close tomorrow (27 February).

Spaces for which applications are awaited are for a club for senior citizens (47m˛), NGO services (21m˛), health and family counselling (26m˛), business support services (21m˛), safe house (13 m˛), citizens’ advice bureau (20 m˛), computer training (39m˛), youth development centre (31m˛), and tuck shop (9 m˛).

The municipality will prepare each of these spaces for occupancy and provide basic office furniture, electrical connections and communication infrastructure.

The costs of any additional requirements and operational costs must be carried by the tenant. Decisions on who qualifies will be made by the MPC management committee. Rental agreements will then be signed with the qualifying organisations for occupancy of the space after the launch date. It is possible that more than one organisation could qualify for the same space, with sharing arrangements on a rotational basis.

Application forms are available at municipal offices.
