Local wines lauded

NEDERBURG’S Winemaster’s Reserve Chardonnay has been rated a Best Buy by Wine Enthusiast, one of America’s most respected and widely read wine and lifestyle magazines. Senior editor Susan Kostrzewa awarded the 2007 vintage an A score of 86 points, calling it a “friendly, New World style” wine with “flavours of toast, oak, spice and decent complexity.” The same wine also comes in for some warm praise in national Australian daily newspaper, The Age, whose Jeni Port finds it a “pleasant surprise” and says the winemaker “deserves a slap on the back, especially for keeping the alcohols down on this little charmer to a reasonable 13,5%.” * The Bosman Family Vineyard Adama has been dubbed “best New World red” by Steven Spurrier, UK master of wine, in the British wine magazine Decanter. The wine is a blend of mainly Shiraz, with some Mourvedre, Primitivo and Viognier.
