Market Street closed for cycling

SOME roads in Paarl will be closed on Friday when the Cape Argus PPA Giro del Capo cycle tour starts and ends one of its stages in Market Street. In Paarl Market Street will be closed between 05:00 and 09:30 and between 12:30 and 14:30. A record 30 teams have entered for the Giro del Capo, presented by the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust, including some of the cycling community’s top guns. The Giro del Capo is a five-day stage race which started in Wellington yesterday. This year a record 12 international and 18 local teams have entered. The fifth and final stage has been incorporated into the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour on Sunday, which will see the Giro lead 35 000 cyclists around the Cape Peninsula. Local teams that will be competing, include Konica-Minolta, Durban-based House of Paint, and Neotel, featuring cycling sensation Nolan Hoffman from Franschhoek, who recently won the 105km The Herald VW Cycle Tour.
