Cape Dutch food and wine festival
2009-03-05
THE Cape Dutch Food & Wine Festival, set to take place in Tulbagh on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 March, will ignite the Witzenberg region when it rolls out the welcome mat as visitors arrive in their masses to savour the very best of the towns’ culinary delights. Traditional Dutch and East Indian cuisine – stroopwafels, drop, poffertjies and mussel pots to name but a few of the delightful dishes - will revitalise the taste buds. Visit the farmer’s market for organic vegetables and delectable homemade goodies, or kick off your shoes and relax in the beer garden, complete with live entertainment and a “Dutch Courage” party on the Saturday evening. Pony rides, face painting, jumping castles and various other childrens’ activities will be on offer to keep the young entertained. Gather the family for a game of petanque, a picnic on the lawns or cheese, chocolate and olive tastings – there’s something for everyone, it’s all about family fun! Entrance is R20 (12 years and younger, free), purchased at one’s first “port-of-call” and valid for both festival days.
