THE Drakenstein Municipality is run like a spaza shop.
The Mbekweni Concerned Group wishes to express its dismay at the cronyism and nepotism displayed by councillors of Drakenstein Municipality at the expense of needy members of the public.
Residents of ward nine in Mbekweni find that only people with affiliations to the ruling party (ANC) are given the opportunity to benefit from the street cleaning project funded by Council’s ward budget.
Even the ward committee is not consulted on who gets the opportunity to participate in the project - people from all political parties are prepared to be part of this job creation project as they are all needy.
This attitude from Council is deplored by Mbekweni residents.
