Juniors show off footwork on soccer field

THE u.15 football side of Paarl Soccer Club recently played warm-up matches in preparation for the kick-off of the league. In their first three encounters, the Paarl side managed three draws, against Eleven Attackers (4-4), Paarl United (2-2) and Mbekweni Cosmos (3-3). The Paarlites hit back with force, managing a brilliant 8-1 demolition of Victorians in an u.15 Drakenstein trial match. Giovanni Johannes led the way with four goals that earned him the match ball, with Lyle van Rooyen adding a cracking top corner goal. Richard Bothas also weighed in with two fine goals. In the second match of the day Paarl played Mbekweni United - one of the best and most skilful teams in the area - against whom they lost 0-1. Paarl’s u.13’s recently also kicked off their season, drawing two matches against Paarl United (1-1) and against Barcelona (2-2), followed by a 1-2 loss against Mbekweni United. The u.13 Drakenstein trials will be played soon * U.15 players who were selected for the second Drakenstein trials, were Jason Januarie (defender), Richard Bothas (forward), Lyle van Rooyen (forward), Giovanni Johannes (midfield), Suhail Serie (forward), Ling Volmink (goalkeeper) and Aidan Litchfield (midfielder).
