Club champs crowned

PAARL GOLF CLUB recently concluded its club championships for all divisions. A stunning golf course was presented to its members and, although the results do not reflect it, the competition was fierce. The ladies had a first time winner, Aneke Lohbauer, with two stunning rounds of golf played (76 and 82 - 158). Lohbauer, a 17-handicap player, played out of her shoes and blew the competition away. The final results were A-gross: B Kluger (86 and 74 - 160); A1-gross: A Lohbauer (76 and 82 - 158); A-nett: M Strassheim (70 and 74 - 144); A1-nett: S Clift (74 and 63 - 147); B-gross: J Malan (90 and 94 - 184); B-nett: Ina Knoetze (73 and 72 - 145); C-gross: C Goosen (93 and 98 - 191); C-nett: C Herschel (73 and 75 - 148); Senior champion: S Hattingh (63); Overall nett: A Lohbauer (59 and 65 - 124; 20 under par); Overall gross and Ladies Club Champion 2009: A Lohbauer (76 and 82 - 158). The seniors were also hotly contested, with Leon Lotz (80) being crowned this year’s senior club championship. The Overall net was won by Anton Kotze (70) and the B-division was won by Johan Pienaar with 42 Stable ford points. The men’s club championships brought some interesting scores to the table. Jan Vorster, a veteran, led after day one with a total of 112. Members play all three nines each day for a 54-hole total. But it was the young Ian de Wet who eventually got his name on the trophy with a grand total of 212. The full results were as follows: A-division gross: I de Wet (107 and 105 - 212); A-division nett: J Van Breda (211); B-division gross: V de Wet and C Viljoen (230); B-division nett: Irwin Kellerman (201); C division gross: W Pieters (254); C-division nett: W van Tonder (216); D-division stableford: M Heunis (105); overall nett champion: I Kellerman (201); junior champion: C O’Rielly (238); club champion 2009 men: I De Wet (107 and 105 - 212).
