THE exhibition Brotherhood 2009 is a group exhibition of works by contemporary African and South African artists, designers, craftsmen and toymakers currently on view at Bosman’s Crossing in Stellenbosch.
A diversity of art in a variety of media, techniques and disciplines ranging from painting through sculpture and ceramics to design with a strong and vibrant ‘Neo-African’ quality and emphasis are exhibited.
A common thread, which creates continuity and runs throughout the exhibition, is that of simplification, abstraction and a quest for the unfamiliar and the unknown - a world of contrasts, conflict and irony, but ultimately ‘the search for beauty’. The Brotherhood 2009 artists are Thembinkosi Kohli (Paarl), Thokozane Mthiyane, Andile Dyalvane and Imiso, The African Toyshop.
The exhibition opens on Saturday (10:00 to 14:00) and can be viewed until Saturday 9 May. During weekdays the exhibition can be seen from 09:00 till 16:30 and Saturdays from 10:00 till 13:00.
