I AM shocked by the statement of Mr Tommy Matthee, municipal official, who says that the opposition to moving squatters into the industrial area is racist.
This has nothing to do with white or black. There are non-whites who own property in the Paarl North area as well, like me, and I surely oppose this decision.
Beside the fact that my property value will decrease, crime rates in our area are likely to increase. This is not discrimination against any race, but a fact.
The 92 shacks will multiply within months and there is no way that you will be able to control this with fences.
Once these 92 times a hundred are settled, the Municipality will conveniently forget about the area.
