Big boxing competition in Mbekweni

THE Sinako Boxing Club of Mbekweni will be having a boxing tournament in the Mbekweni Community Hall on Saturday. Visitors from the Eastern Cape, as well as most of the clubs affiliated with Boland (Hermon, Villiersdorp, Atlantis, Worcester and Stellenbosch) and Metropole Clubs (Site C, Phillippi, Macassar and Belgrave), will also be taking part in the tournament. Age groups competing vary from 12 years to 34 years. The juniors will be fighting three rounds per match, with the seniors fighting four rounds per match. There will also be a division for girls. The SA boxing champion from Mbekweni, Sivuyile Caleni (18), will also be in action during the competition. He was voted the best Boland boxer of the year in 2007.
