ACCLAIMED as one of the world’s finest violinists, the charismatic Ukrainian-born, London-based Maxim Rysanov will be performing in Cape Town on 23 and 25 April. On Saturday 25 April he will be the guest of the Cape Town Concert Series, performing at the Baxter Concert Hall, Rondebosch, in duo with the noted Russian pianist Evgeny Samoyloff, following an appearance with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra in the Cape Town city hall on Thursday 23 April. Hailed by the great violinist Yuri Bashmet for his extraordinary mastery and musicianship, Rysanov is today one of the most sought-after concerto soloists, recitalists and recording artists, regularly featured in most of the great European festivals, and engaged by the world’s leading orchestras. For the concert series Rysanov will play works by Bach, Mendelssohn and the famous ‘Arpeggione’ Sonata by Schubert. In the same programme Samoyloff will play one of Beethoven’s favourite sonatas, the No.24 in F sharp major, Op.78. Tickets at R120 are available at Computicket. Tickets and concessions for senior citizens and students will be on sale at the door. For more information, you can visit www.ctconcerts.co.za.
