A PREGNANT woman died over the weekend, after she was stabbed by a family member.

The incident took place on Friday evening at a house-shop in Acorn Lane, Lanquedoc.

Buyisile Gobeni received information that his wife, Nontuthuzelo Mbhano who was tending the shop, was being attacked by a woman.

On arrival, Gobeni found his eight month pregnant wife with a stab wound to her neck. He immediately rushed his wife to the Stellenbosch Hospital, but she and the unborn child died on arrival.

The suspect, who is a family member, also sustained a stab wound during the incident, and is currently being treated in hospital for her injuries.

* A construction office in Thembani Square, Mbekweni, was robbed at gunpoint of R10 000. Two weeks ago a man entered the office, which is located in a container, and threatened Phunyezwa Mlondobi with a firearm. She was forced to hand over the cash, which was intended to as wages to pay workers. The suspect then fled from the scene.

* The Franschhoek police are investigating the disappearance of the canopy of a bakkie from an accident scene at the intersection of the R45 with the Wemmershoek Road.

When the Nissan 1400 pick-up was removed from the scene, the blue canopy was left at the roadside. Anyone with information can contact Sgt Lood Muller on 021-876-8061.
