WE have a 19-year-old son who has had an illness (in the epilepsy category) that has caused seizures since the age of 13. He is on daily medication for this.
A result of this illness is that he finds it difficult to make and keep friends of his age easily, as he cannot indulge in alcohol, and bright flashing lights also affect him amongst other things. Hence local hang-outs are a no-no for him.
We were wondering if there are any other families in the Paarl area who have a child or children with a similar illness or are there any associations or groups that one can contact, so that we can hopefully get our son to socialise more in the company of people that understand his illness and feelings, and so that he can be in surroundings that will not affect his health.
