Bursaries up for grabs

Bursaries up for grabs

2009-05-14

THE Thuthuka Bursary Fund, a key element of the transformation programme of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), is offering bursaries to African and Coloured Grade 12 learners with exceptional all-round marks, specifically in core mathematics. The closing date for applications is 30 June.

Thuthuka continues to fund students from previously disadvantaged communities aiming to study towards a BCom accounting degree to qualify as Chartered Accountants.

Students who do exceptionally well in mathematics and have excellent marks in the other university entrance subjects may apply,” says Nthato Selebi, SAICA’s Project Director of the Thuthuka Bursary Fund.

Thuthuka is a holistic programme designed to nurture promising students from high school, through university and, ultimately, to prepare them for their qualifying examinations towards becoming CAs(SA).

According to Selebi aspiring CA(SA) learners must have achieved outstanding Grade 11 results and should be on target to achieve a matriculation exemption with an average of at least 60% in core mathematics.

Grade 12 learners are encouraged to send their Grade 11 results to Thuthuka Bursary Fund, PO Box 59875, Kengray, 2100, DX92 Johannesburg or visit www.saica.co.za.
