THREE of the Frank Pietersen Music Centre’s teachers, Hadley Duminy, Lara Block and Arno Jones, will be performing as Trio Fantastik at the Paarl Police College hall on Saturday 16 May at 19:00.
Two trio members, Duminy (violin) and Block (cello), are teachers at the Frank Pietersen Music Centre. The third member is Lester le Roux (piano).
For the concert at the Police College they are joined by vocalists Arno Jones and Vicky Brink and Drummer Keith Bauer-Schmidt.
Duminy, a full-time violin teacher at the centre, heads the string department and conducts the senior string ensemble, while Lara Block gives cello lessons on a part-time basis.
Arno Jones is one of the very versatile staff members of the Frank Pietersen Music Centre heading the wind department and accompanying the Youth Choir.
Brink of UWC will perform one of the lead roles in the musical “Fiddler on the Roof” which will be staged by the Frank Pietersen Music Centre in October, directed by Duminy and Arno.
The Trio Fantastik was formed in 2007 and has enjoyed a very successful run, dazzling audiences with their soul-soothing music.
All the musicians in the group are highly trained performers from the UCT College of Music. They play a wide variety of music which includes light classical music to contemporary pop/R&B and jazz songs.
This concert promises to be very exciting and young musicians in particular are encouraged to attend, as this group wants to show the versatility of the violin and cello which can play in any style, classical as well as pop, rock and jazz.
Tickets for the concert are R60 for balcony seats, R50 for adults and R30 for children which includes a cheese and wine during interval.
