Furniture store robbed again

Furniture store robbed again

2009-05-14

A FURNITURE store in Lady Grey Street has been invaded by burglars for the third time in so many months.

Russells in Lady Grey Street fell prey once again to burglars on Saturday afternoon, shortly after the store had closed for trading.

As during the previous burglaries, the storeroom in Verster Street was again forced open and three Sony DVD-players were stolen. No arrests have yet been made.

In February burglars got away with R34 000 worth of television sets, when they broke into the store one evening.

And barely two weeks ago, the store was again broken into and various household appliances, including an oven and washing machine were stolen.

This led to a wild chase which only ended beyond Stellenbosch, when one person died in a crash, and one sustained gunshot wounds. Another three men were arrested on the scene.
