RECONSTRUCTION of the R310 road from Helshoogte to Boschendal is currently underway. Construction starts in Kylemore and continues to the R310/R45 intersection near Simondium.

The project comprises the reconstruction and widening of approximately 6 km of the existing surfaced road, and includes the construction of approximately 600m of new roadway.

The project also includes the upgrading and installation of new stormwater drainage, streetlighting and landscaping.

As a consequence of the reconstruction, motorists travelling this road will be periodically inconvenienced during the construction period, by means of stop-go traffic as well as temporary road diversions.

Construction is expected to be completed towards the latter part of 2010, a spokesperson said.

The Department of Transport and Public Works’ Roads Infrastructure Branch apologises to the public for any inconvenience. For enquiries, contact the site office on 021-874-2754.
