Boland athletes represent SA

SEVERAL Boland Athletes were selected by Athletics South Africa to represent South Africa at various international events, based on their performances at the National Track and Field Champions in March and April. The Southern Region Youth Track and Field Championships will be taking place in Windhoek on 13 June, where Lionel Abrahams (Paarl Athletics) and Mzwandile Qashani (Mbekweni Athletics) will be representing South Africa in long jump and100m respectively. The 2009 African Junior Track and Field Championships will be taking place in Mauritius from 30 July to 2 August. Dr Harold Adams, President of Boland Athletics, will be accompanying the South African Team as team doctor, while Melissa Hewitt, (100m Paarl Athletics) and Maties students Ethan Floris (100m), Shaun de Jager (400m), and Cornel Fredericks (400m H), Willem le Roux (Decathlon), will represent South Africa. The IAAF World Youth Championships will take place in Italy from 8 to 12 July. Lionel Abrahams (long jump - Paarl Athletics) and Mzwandile Quashani (100m - Mbekweni Athletics) have been selected onto the preliminary team to represent South Africa. The final team will be announced in June.
