THE Drakenstein Municipality invites local community groups and organisations to apply for financial and in-kind support to assist with the organising of local events and festivals. The closing date for applications is 12 June this year. These events must demonstrate an ability to generate tourism activity, stimulate the local economy and providing social benefits to the community of Drakenstein, a spokespeson of the municipality said. The types of events that will be supported will be community celebrations and community festivals, conferences, conventions, exhibitions and sporting events. Parties which will be eligible for support include local community groups and organisations and non-profit organisations based in Drakenstein.
