Lecture: Journalist Gerda Coetzee, a former chairman of the Simon van der Stel national body, will deliver a lecture on “How two buildings are changing the lives of two communities” tonight at 19:00 at the Hout Street Gallery, Paarl. Enquiries at 872-5030.

Voedsel- en wynfees: Malmesbury gaan die naweek in rep en roer wees met die jaarlikse Voedsel- en Wynfees. Een van die hoogtepunte is die tentoonstelling van toeka tot nou se Volkswagen kewers die Saterdag. Deelnemers betaal R40 en dit sluit hul toegang in.

Schools Arts Festival: Drama, poetry, dance, orchestra and visual arts can be seen at Artscape (theatre) from untill 1 September. Sschools from over the province participate in a festival of dance, choirs, orchestras, poetry and visual arts. Tickets at Computicket.
Poetry: One of the finest publications of English poetry this year must be Arthur Attwell’s collection “Killing time”. The poet will be the guest speaker at Protea Book Shop (Stellenbosch) on Saturday 20 Augustus at 11:00 and will not only discuss his poetry but also read some of his poems.
