I LIVE in a retirement village at the Southern end of Paarl. I live happily here, secure in the knowledge of the safety of my person, property and my three cats.
Today that safety was compromised by a person living within this village. This person shot at my cat, Lucky, with a pellet gun, shattering one of her legs.
The caring and compassion Lucky and I experienced at the Market Street animal hospital was in marked contrast to this despicable act.
Sadly, my beautiful cat is no longer with us.
How true is the Irish proverb, “Beware of people who hate cats.” The one who fires the gun is not only a hater of cats, but also a liability to all of us living here.
