Black-list your phone

Black-list your phone

2009-06-04

CELLPHONES are on top of the list of items which are most often stolen or lost.

It is thus very important to have the cellphone black-listed, so that the criminals who lay their hands on it, can no longer use it.

To do this, the stolen or lost cellphone must be reported to your network provider. For MTN call 173 for pre-paid phones, 808 for contract or 083-1173. For Vodacom, dial 124 or 082-124,and CellC 140 or 084-140.

Once this has been reported, the network provider will black-list the phone and issue you with a reference number.

The next step is then to report the lost phone at your local police station, supplying them with the reference number. Then you will receive a case number which will assist you with your insurance.
