Festive lights to shine in Paarl East?

THERE is a strong possibility that the Paarl Festival of Lights will move to Drakenstein Road in Paarl East and the Wellington Christmas festivities to Voor Street. The mayoral committee last week discussed this alternative to the status quo, where the festivals were based in Lady Grey Street in Paarl and Church Street in Wellington. Mayor Charmaine Manuel said that the Paarl East option would have cost implications to move the festival lights to Drakenstein Road and that a cost analysis on the relocation should be done before a decision can be made. A stadium option is also considered. The committee said the Paarl East option would benefit informal traders and the medium, small and micro enterprises of that area.
