WE are Grade 12 students at New Orleans Secondary School and would like to respond to the letter of “concerned parent” which has deeply upset and offended us.
We are proud to be associated with an institution that does not only empower us with knowledge, but also walks the extra mile to groom us to be well-developed SA citizens eventually. We are truly proud of our school.
Yes, we do have ill-disciplined learners, but so do all other schools. The educators and our principal try their best to stop these ten out of about 1500 learners who disrupt our school.
Discipline starts at home. If undisciplined learners are sent to school, the burden is so much heavier on our school. It is unfair that the quality of our school should be judged by these children.
Here we have many other things to be proud of, for example our arts and culture, sport and academic achievements.
There are so many well-behaved learners at our school. If children are well disciplined and strong willed, they will surely not be sucked in by these delinquents.
Let’s face it, all schools have their bad apples.
