Drakenstein darts players rewarded

MEMBERS of the Paarl-based Drakenstein Darts Association - consisting of 14 clubs from Paarl, Wellington and Pniel - will soon be competing in the National Darts Championships in Johannesburg. All four senior men that have been selected for the Boland provincial team, are from the Drakenstein Darts Association. The Drakenstein senior men’s team selected for the SA National Championships, are Wilfred Raats (United Dart Club in Wellington; former Protea player), Thurlough Lottering (Independent Flyers Dart Club in Paarl; former Junior Protea player), Charl Pietersen (Drakenstein Dart Club in Paarl, national junior champ in 2008) and Danny Daniels. Of the four senior ladies selected for the provincial team, two are of DDA. They are Olivia Hendricks, Denise Nicholson, Audrey Arendse, Elizma Alexander and Alicia Williams. Of the four members of the junior provincial team, Drakenstein is represented by three players. They are Mcdaniel Daniel (New Orleans Secondary), Gareth Cilliers (Paarl Gymnasium) and Shineece Kulsen (New Orleans Secondary). In the Drakenstein District team selected for the national championships, are Charl Pietersen (2008 National Junior Champion), Thurlough Lottering (former Junior Protea/National Player), Wilfred Raats (Former Senior National/Protea player), Daniel Daniels (Provincial Team captain), Charles Cloete (2008 Boland Province player), Elizma Alexander (former Junior Protea/National player) and Olivia Hendricks (Boland Provincial player ranked in the top ten in South Africa). Lorenzo Arendse was selected as manager of both the Senior District team and manager of the Junior Provincial/Boland team. What is also remarkable is that all this was achieved in 2009 - the year the Drakenstein Darts Association is celebrating its 30th birthday.
