Steady kick-off for Paarl’s u. 15’s
2009-06-25
THE under 15 players of Paarl Soccer Club kicked off the season in good form, claiming a 2-1 home win over Wellchester Soccer Club. Despite falling behind 1-0 at the Boy Louw Sports grounds, the Paarl boys came back with two cracking goals from Lyle van Rooyen. The second match against Young Computers, also at Boy Louw, was a seesaw affair. The Paarl boys were 2-1 down at half-time, despite an excellent individual goal by Matthew Farmer. Substitute Suhail Seria came on and scored two quick goals to put Paarl Soccer Club ahead, but a long range shot at the death, bounced kindly for the visiting centre forward and he was able to slide home the equaliser (final score 3-3). In the next match Paarl travelled to play Mbekweni United in a friendly. The home team pressed hard for a goal, but Chadley Volmink (keeper) was in great form, saving shot after shot. The score was 0-0 at half-time. Mbekweni continued to push forward, but with ten minutes left, Lyle van Rooyen exploited an opening and rifled the ball home. Paarl began to dominate, with Nicholas Farmer hitting the crossbar with a close range header. Finally Volmink made the victory certain with a long range shot that looped over the Mbekweni keeper (final score 2-0). Paarl’s u.15’s also managed a 1-1 draw with Paarl United, with Michael Carollisen scoring a fine goal. Boys wishing to join the club can contact Tony Litchfield on 084-515-1416.
